I think the biggest hang up people have about this practice, is the concept of animal sacrifice. Besides, the world is about to go vegan, and people will not tolerate poor innocent animals being killed for someone else’s sustenance or worse yet, enjoyment. People are repulsed, calling animal sacrifices animal cruelty. They fail to realize that virtually every culture and religion practiced some form of sacrifice, and sometimes, it didn’t involve an animal.
The benefits of sacrificing
You guys know that I am here in Playa Del Carmen. The Mexican people are very hospitable and like to invite guest to their homes for holidays. I was lucky to get invited to a fiesta on Mexican Independence Day. On that day, I enjoyed a traditional Mexican meal, while the host explained to me the rituals behind preparing it. She explained that many of the Mayan people would volunteer to be sacrificed. Yes, you read that right, they would volunteer to be sacrificed. They believed that it was an honor to give their lives to their gods. Once sacrificed, their bodies would be chopped up, and cooked to be eaten. I know it sounds gruesome. And all those who are removed from nature may have found this practice completely uncivilized, or worst yet, barbaric.
Day of the Dead Traditions
However, those of us who are connected to nature, understand that death is part of nature’s balance. In that balance, there is a concept that is known as creative destruction. We understand that something has to die in order for something else to exist. We can see the concept being displayed in yes, one of my all-time favorite television shows Game of Thrones. The theme of creative destruction is imminent as witches, sorcerers, knights and nobles risks their lives for power and prestige. They know that some-one’s going to die, yet they take great strides to ensure that it is not them. The theme of creative destruction resonates with many of us, because we’ve seen great civilizations throughout history rise and fall, from the Egyptian empire, to the Greek empire, to the Roman empire, to the European empire, and maybe the American empire.
Day of the Dead Festivals
Other zombie shows take a more comedic approach with this theme. Shows like IZombie, and the Santa Clarita Diet, showcase the undead with an insatiable appetite to eat other people’s brains or human flesh. The theme resonates, eat, or die. Then, the main characters whole existence is dependent upon hunting and killing other human beings. So, what’s the moral of this story? Well, the moral is that nothing can be created or manifested without a sacrifice. Our ancestors knew this. That’s why many of them performed blood sacrifices. Or others, like the Mayans would volunteer to be sacrificed.
How to manifest anything overnight
They didn’t look at death as some horrifying thing. They looked at it as an extension of life, where the dead could go into the spiritual world, and still communicate and work with their ancestors from the other side. They didn’t believe in allowing the sick, or disabled to live out their lives in misery. Instead, they could figure out a way to painlessly kill them. I know that talk of sacrifice, both human and animal makes people feel very uncomfortable. In fact, it is our discomfort with death, that keeps us far removed from nature. We fail to understand that our immune systems are killing off bacteria and other types of diseases that invade the body. We fail to understand that different parts of our body, such as our skin cells, are dying, only to be replaced with new younger cells. We can see the concept of death and destruction, all throughout nature, from hurricanes, to fire-storms, to termites that eat wood, from the bugs that eat plants, to human beings who eat virtually everything.
Day of The Dead History
So, now you’re wondering why I am going off on some rant about creative destruction? I am doing it, because I need you to understand the power of sacrifice. I need you to understand that in order to move forward, you must give something up. If you want to lose weight, you’re going to have to give up donuts and chocolate cakes. If you want to build a business, you may have to give up your time and money to do so, and if you want to manifest, you must make a sacrifice. You must give up a certain aspect of yourself that no longer serves you, something that is prohibiting your ability to grow.
The power of letting go
My sacrifice? I am giving up social media. I announced that I will no longer be posting on YouTube. Yet, I want to continue to teach people about the ancestors, the Orisha, and the Lwa from a place of love. With that said. I will host and manage my own private list. It’s much more intimate without the prying eyes of naysayers, skeptics, and non-believers. This way, I can create an intimate community of like-minded individuals who want to do magic together. Now, before we move forward and start getting into the ritual for The Day of The Dead. I want you to think about what you’re willing to sacrifice. What are you willing to give up to move forward? I want you to think about this carefully. Think about the things that you’ve outgrown, or behaviors or people that no longer serve you. Think about those things and be prepared to let them all go
